Surrealism Gallery: Our mission in this lesson was to combine familiar objects and settings in surprising ways. We wanted to create images that evoked a thoughtful response which might be funny, mysterious, spooky, or a combination of all three. We learned to create a realistic setting, in most cases a room in 1-point perspective. The surreal elements could be added through drawing or magazine cutouts. Expect the unexpected! Cubism Gallery:

The word we learned to describe the artist Pablo Picasso was the word "Pioneer". Artists like PIcasso were responsible for a dramatic change in the world of art that continues to evolve to the present day. You can see that our cubism-inspired artworks include bright colors, split shapes, and features seen from different directions at the same time. Students have been doing a great job of embracing this fun and different way of creating art. Portrait of Dora Maar, c.1937
